Why does Redeemer Traverse City exist?

We exist to Glorify God

By Making (and being) Disciples of Jesus Christ

By Living in Community

By Doing Good to Everyone

 Redeemer Exists to Glorify God:

As the apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:31: "So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God." While we seek to do this in every area of our life, we also prioritize gathering corporately for worship on Sunday to "declare the excellencies of him who called us out of darkness and into his marvelous light."

By Making (and Being) Disciples:

We believe that the Great Commission of Matthew 28: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" is the primary mission that Jesus gave his church. But we cannot make disciples if we are not first disciples ourselves. We seek to be a church that helps each other in the radical call of discipleship that Christ has put on each of our lives.

By Living in Community:

Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some."

Jesus loves the church. He founded the church. He died for the church. Pursing deep and meaningful relationships with other believers, while never easy, is God's design for us and is where many of the blessings of the Christian life are found. We lament the rise of churchless christianity today. We need a commitment to Christian community if we will ever be the people God has called us to be.

By Doing Good to All:

Gal 6:10 "So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone..."

It is important that Christians, both as individuals and as churches, be "doers of the word and not just hearers only" (James 1). We believe it is important to put feet to our faith in tangible ways by loving and serving our neighbors, our community, and our world, and we make efforts to do that throughout the year. God created us, called us, and prepared us to do "good works" (Ephesians 2:10), and these good works should be directed to everyone that God puts in our path.
